My impression is that Jill has done absolute justice to the telling of her story within the Duggar family. I found her parents described as believably loving, good people, who made mistakes (as we all do) and fell for the extreme (cultish) teachings of Bill Gothard.
Jill’s evolution is compelling and beautiful. It was obviously painful and she doesn’t avoid or deny that pain, but she has been very kind to her family in the retelling of the more traumatic parts of her family life.
I hope she is able to find deeper reconciliation with her parents. I hope her parents come to see more clearly how they might have contributed to some of Jill’s and their other children’s’ emotional trauma. I hope they too can spiritually evolve away from the legalism of IBLP toward extravagant grace!
